Centennial Airport Noise

Stop noise from Centennial Airport

Welcome

"The Congress declares that it is the policy of the United States
to promote an environment for all Americans free from
noise that jeopardizes their health or welfare."
NOISE CONTROL ACT of 1972

This website wants to provide more visibility to the fact that Centennial Airport faces a huge challenge addressing a magnitude of noise complaints from neighborhoods around the airport. This website is not associated with Centennial Airport, but rather sponsored by individuals who feel that Centennial Airport's work to address noise issues is hugely inadequate (over 12,000 unaddressed noise complaints in 2007 and almost 7000 submitted for 2008). 2008 showed a record number of households complaining about noise generated by airplanes originating from Centennial Airport. Almost 400 households registered in 2008, a 40+% increase over 2007. 2009 also recorded record levels of noise complaints! It is our concern, however, that addressing noise issues is not a priority for Centennial Airport. Being part of the airport's operations business, the noise office might actually have a conflict of interest with its task of addressing noise issues and supporting/growing the airport business at the same time.

It is our goal to bring more awareness to this issue and help in the process of reducing noise originating from Centennial Airport. With the airport's present location, there is almost no possibility of shifting traffic around without impacting other communities. Therefore, we are proposing measures to instantly and dramatically reduce air traffic into Centennial Airport.

If you want to voice your concerns directly to the airport authorities then we recommend sending an email to the Arapahoe Board of Commissioners (BoC). We believe this is a more successful path than contacting the noise office. The Arapahoe Board of Commissioners oversees the activities of Centennial Airport, the noise office and airport management, including Robert Olislagers and organization.

Their email address is:    commissioners@co.arapahoe.co.us

The more citizens voice their concerns the better are the chances that the BoC will do something about the noise and any potential safety hazard. We believe that working through the Noise Office at Centennial Airport will not provide any improvement to your situation, only add frustration. However, for you to be accurately represented in the official noise stats of Centennial Airport, we still recommend that you submit a noise complaint at least once a month at Centennial Airport's noise website:
